Description

Get ready to cut, mix, and create in this hands-on collage workshop! Students will explore the exciting world of analog collage, combining different materials, drawings, and objects to bring their creativity to life. We’ll learn how collage can tell stories, express emotions, and reflect who we are—all while having fun experimenting with colors, textures, and unexpected materials.

At the end of the course, students will select their four best works to showcase and share with their loved ones!

What We’ll Explore Each Week (This is a general outline, but activities may vary depending on the needs and interests of the class!)

Week 1: Welcome to the World of Collage!
What is collage? Let’s look at famous collage artists (maybe even a future YOU!).
Fun observation exercises to sharpen our creative eyes.
Project: Create your own Collage Friend or Monster!

Week 2: Drawing + Collage = A Perfect Match!
How can drawing and collage work together?
Experimenting with mixed techniques to add our own touch.
Project: Designing a character using both drawing and collage.

Week 3: Collaging with Unexpected Materials!
Let’s explore objects—what happens when we collage with real things?
Adding textures with petals, leaves, and natural elements.
Project: Creating a unique piece using non-traditional materials.

Week 4: Who Am I? Collage & Identity
Exploring self-image and personal identity through collage.
Finding inspiration in our favorite things, colors, and activities.
Final Project: A collage self-portrait that reflects who we are.
