Class Overview:
In the Disney Movie Club enrichment program, students will immerse themselves in the world of Disney films by discussing and analyzing characters, exploring alternate endings, and ultimately crafting their own sequels. Over the course of the month, each student will choose one of their favorite Disney films, delve into its story and characters, and use their creativity to write, sketch, or orally share a sequel that they’ve individually created. By the end of the month, students will have their very own sequel, ready to share with friends, family, and classmates!
Class Outcome:
At the end of this month-long journey, each student will have:
Created a unique sequel to one of their favorite Disney films.
Developed and honed storytelling skills, exploring character development, plot structure, and creative writing.
Sharpened their analytical skills by evaluating the original movie, identifying character traits, and imagining new directions for the story.
Produced a visual or oral presentation of their sequel, through drawings, writing, or verbal storytelling.
Gained confidence in presenting and sharing their ideas with others.
Materials Needed:
Movie Access: Each student will need to have access to a Disney film of their choice (either through streaming services, DVDs, or any other available means).
Notebooks and Journals: For writing and sketching.
Art Supplies: Colored pencils, markers, or crayons for sketching scenes or characters (optional).
Writing Supplies: Pencils, pens, and erasers for drafting and editing their sequels.
Laptop/Tablet (Optional): For digital writing or research.
Printed Character Analysis Sheets: Provided by the instructor.
